Virgin arrives in Nassau

In this arduous assignment Reid and Reid successfully co-ordinated a wing-walk by Sir Richard Branson and Miss Bahamas, a riotous Junkanoo, a lavish party at Atlantis and a speedboat chase to Yellowbeard’s Island. Behind the glamorous surface a great deal of hard work went on in close liaision with Bahamian Government Ministers, the Royal Bahamas Police, the Airport Authority and many local locations and suppliers.

Royal Society 350th Anniversary

Dominic Reid was headhunted to develop an ambitious and highly visible programme of events to celebrate the 350th Anniversary of the Royal Society in 2010. Over 1200 events took place around the world, including two multi-partner programmes in the UK, a nine-day public festival at the South Bank and a convocation of the Fellows of the Society attended by several members of the Royal Family. Dominic also oversaw the publication of a history of the Society edited by Bill Bryson and was instrumental in developing the BBC’s ‘World of Wonder’ yearlong programme of science broadcasting.

The Queen’s Golden Jubilee

Dominic Reid, seen in ceremonial uniform in the bottom centre of the picture above, was responsible for the Ceremony of the Sword at Temple Bar and Her Majesty’s farewell from Guildhall Yard. He commissioned the Jubilee Festival Fanfare by Elgar Howarth and liaised with Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s Cathedral, The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Weekend Trust, the military, police, broadcasters and many other agencies. He was later awarded the OBE for services to the City of London and the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.

The Lord Mayor’s Show

The world’s largest unrehearsed procession, its longest running television programme and one of its oldest democratic ceremonies. Since 1992 full executive responsibility for the running of the Show has rested with Dominic Reid, the Pageantmaster. It involves a procession of over 6500 military and civilian participants an RAF flypast, and one of London’s largest firework displays.

The Boat Race

Dominic Reid was the first Executive Director of the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race. For four years he was responsible for management of sponsor relations; identification and approach of potential future sponsors; relationships with BBC Sport and BBC Worldwide; negotiation of broadcast and media rights contracts; the launch and management of its first website; and organisation of the Boat Race Ball, all in the lead up to its 150th anniversary.

Falklands 25

In June 2007 Reid and Reid oversaw the wreath-laying ceremony at San Carlos Military Cemetery in the Falkland Islands, a key part of the national event to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Falklands conflict. This involved the successful live outside broadcast via satellite link to synchronise perfectly with events 8,000 miles away on Horseguards Parade in London.

Flora London Marathon

Reid and Reid acted as consultants to the Marathon from 1996 to 2000 and developed the entertainment and charity activity on the route.
